Anyone know the reliability of these drives? Ever since the 75GXP fiasco I am seriously turned off by IBM hard drives.

I wouldn't ever trust another IBM harddrive again. I'm sure we're all glad that WD makes their own drives again. :D

How did you figure that out? I didn't know newegg supported stock checks.

You add an insane number of the same products to your cart, say 500. If there is less than 500 then it will only add as many of those products into your cart as they have in stock

So you enter 500 to put into your cart.... it comes back with 99 in your cart. They have 99 left.

I WOULD NEVER EVER buy a WD drive after what happened to my 120JB a few days ago. It made some noises and just stopped working. Wouldn't even detect in the BIOS........I hate WD.........lost 100 GB of music :|:|:|:|:|:|:|

If I dare ask, how much of that music do you legally own? ;)

I ALWAYS backup stuff... its a good habit.

BigJ: Hitachi made a strategic(read:long-term) deal to make an investment in IBM's consumer hard drive business. This means that all R&D and production facilities (and, more importantly, patents) dedicated to IBM consumer HDD tech will eventually be used to make Hitachi drives. This has no impact whatsoever on current drives being made or that will be made by IBM. IBM will still honor any warranties and will still make the drives, its just that next product cycle, when the 120GXP is obsolete, they won't make any more consumer hard drives. This lot of drives, which was likely produced months ago, probably predates the deal with Hitachi, much less any actual forthcoming involvement by them in IBM's HDD business.
