120 foot tower for wireless router

I have that same antenna but I'm not using it yet. It supposedly has a range of 5-7 miles.

I wouldn't have burried the tower partially in concrete like this guy did. If it gets wrecked in a storm he'll have to start over. I would have mounted it with threaded rod sticking out of the concrete instead.

It doesn't look like the guy lives in a place that cares much about that sort of thing.

FCC = federal.

He's saying that he's far out in the country, like in East Texas or Wyoming or something, outside of federal jurisdiction.

governement official: sir, we'd like to inspect your tower for compliance

texan: *cocking 12-gague* well sir, I don't believe i gave you permission to enter onto my property....

Maybe he should spend some money fixing his house instead of constructing/installing a tower? His roof is half rusted.

Actually, no. At 200 feet I'd need a light on top for airplanes. If I ran more than 100 volts up it I'd need some kind of permit as well (I don't... it's just POE). Aside from that, this is basically the equivalent of a ham radio tower. In fact, it's the same type of tower (Rohn 25) and probably shorter than some ham towers in the region.

And, yes, it's my tower in the pictures.

Heh. Looks worse than it is. 🙂 Trust me, the roof isn't disintegrating... but it is about 90 years old and not often viewed from quite this angle...

I've crane-set a couple of hundred footers similar to that, only we put anchor bolts in the monolithic base instead of pouring the bottom section in the 'crete.
Both were for 2 meter HAM repeaters.

Prove it 😉

Go outside, stand next to the tower with a sign that says "I told you so ATOT" 😉

I would... but that'd require a photo and Ironwing back there already called me anal for the 170 shots currently posted. 😉
