120 Degrees Fahrenheit Under Load OK?

Hi guys,

So after installing the BitFenix Recon, I notice that my temperatures tend to idle around 85 degrees F and jump to 120 while gaming. My rig contains a 3770k with a good aftermarket heatsink and 2 7970 Vapor-X editions in SLi.

I'm using a Corsair 800D, and added two exhaust fans to the top so that there is net negative pressure in the case. Any opinions?

Actually I would consider that icy cold for a CPU under load.

Indeed, really only achievable with a high end cooler on a stock clocked CPU with low ambients.

The same goes for the GPU, really. under 50C at 100% load definitely calls for aftermarket cooling like an Accelero and low ambients.

I have a feeling the OP has vSync on and the cards only end up stressed halfway through.

7970s are in crossfire not sli 😛 sli is for nvidea cards only

Yes oops!

Aww hell naw I'm talking about under load w/o VSync.

Also, my CPU cores get to around 55-60C under full load. I was talking about temps inside the case though, not of specific components.

For inside case temps your 48C sounds quite alright in a 7970 crossfire setup.

How do you stress the CPU?

Since you brought this up, I was just curious now. My ivyb xeon E3 1275V2 is running around 49-50C with the Corsair H60 @ all cores at 100% load (running computational work, but this is still no prime 95 as after periods of stress the computer loads drop to 30% ), so I'm guessing this is good. But I admit, I did add a second fan, so it is a push pull h60. With prime95 for 2 hours with large ffts at 100%, it got to 58-59C.

58-59C after 2h in Prime95 is obviously very nice. H60 push-pull at full speed is pretty high end. What is your ambient temp?
