12" Compound Miter Saw - Which Brand?

I ended up getting a Ridgid 12" compound with laser. It was on sale and I decided it was worth the $269. The DeWalt was a close second. The laser actually came out very handy this weekend with all the chair rail and baseboards I did!

I have several different ones. They are all close to equal. When I need a saw at a jobsight, I always grab the heaviest one. Must be some sort of reason for that.

My dad has a 12" Dewalt and I have a 10" Makita. Both are great. Although stock dust collection on both suck.
Guess it doesn't matter now but we got them at Northern Tool.

I have a Ryobi and it has been just fine. It is a little tricky to change the blade, but otherwise it's great.

Heh. To many bells and whistles for me, but then again, I have never met a tool that I didn't like.

Nah I'm open to all kinds of ideas. I want a new router too I have a 10" Table saw that I'll probably replace within the next 6months to a year.

Since we just moved into this house I need to get my garage set up with a nice little workshop (we don't use it for parking).

Consider a Porter Cable 890 series, or a Bosch. Both are good. I have the PC, and a larger Freud I leave mounted under a router table.

Oh, if the table saw is decent, spend the money on a band saw. I have the Grizzly 0555 with riser, and it gets more use than my Jet contractor saw.
