you have to say no to a cd they will try to send you every month... If your late, it gets mailed to you....

Other than that, i've signed up multiple times and it has been worth it every time...

been a member for a while now and you can go online and tell them not to send you their monthly selections. they've also started a new member advantage program where they'll charge you 4.99 per cd including shipping on all titles.

I used to like BMG, then they started charging the heck out of you on shipping and handling fees for EACH cd even though they would send them all in one box. Usually the cheapest (1) CD that you have to buy is like $22 after shipping costs.

Yep, you have to buy one CD and then you can cancel the account. They give you 7 CDs up front and 4 after you buy the one. Their shipping is a bit high, but they finally seem to realize that everyone quits and rejoins. They are running a lot better CD deals after you meet membership requirements.

Yes, but they'll send you monthly email notifications. They'll even send you reminders if you still haven't notified if you want the featured selection or not. I think it's a pretty good deal.

I've had BMG for years now and they are constantly sending deals through email where it's 6.99 per CD w/ free shipping or some variant of that (e.g. 75% off but you have to pay shipping). All of the emailed promotions end up costing about the same per CD (give or take a few cents).

Anyone figured how much $$ it works out to for each CD, after you figure in the free ones, shipping, the one you buy, etc?

Works out to be about $50-55 total for all 12 cd's.... So about $4-$4.50 per cd

I used to do this, eons ago. The shipping did bring the cost of each 'free' CD up to $8-10. Nowadays, with new CDs at the stores for $10, it's cheaper (and less hassle) to just buy 'm. Or download.

One MAJOR problem I've had with BMG is the quality of their copies...I've a RUSH CD (Chronicles) that'll skip in various CD-players (only my Sony carousel at home works fine). Unfortunately, I found this out several years after I cancelled the subscription. I've heard the same from others.

$8-$10 a CD with shipping? Were you having them shipped to Istanbul?

With the current offer your average should be well under half that. It's a great deal if they have what you're looking for.

if they have what you're looking for.
that's the key. make sure they have 12 you'd really want to add to your collection.

also, the $6.99 per cd free shipping is available w/o being in the club on most cds, see the other post here

Last time I did the deal the total was about $2.50/disk if I remember right and that included shipping (about 1995). Anyone know what shipping is for one disk now? I can't seem to find it on their site.

True, but if you are a member you get music points which can be used toward other purchases. Not a "big" perk, but a perk nonetheless.

Its about $4.50 per CD on average if you just buy the 12 and quit. Give or take .20 a CD.

i've never had a problem with the quality of their cd's. i've built most of my cd collection through bmg and i haven't had a problem on any of my 100+ cd's that i've purchased through them. also, in case you guys didn't notice from my first post, but bmg now has a deal where you can buy any cd at any time for 4.99 that includes shipping + a music point per cd (so 2 disc sets come out to be 9.98 + tax) so that way you don't have to cancel and wait over a year for them to send you another buy 1, get 12 free deal.

Shipping is a good $3.00 plus tax per CD. They'll give you a few dimes off for the 2nd, 3rd and so on cds from the same order. The CDs are always in good quality in my opinion, but half of them come with non stardard UPC codes with the lettering "manufactured for BMG direct."

Ditto!!! I found problems with my copy of Chronicles, too! Wow. I forget the issue, but I remember the CDs from it having this very smoothed over look, like they were dipped in silver polish. The edges were smooth and everything. It was a strange pressing.

Lately I can't tell their releases aren't retail, except the packaging of the non-jewel case titles is a little cheaper. I bough MMW's Combustication, which has a cool multi-layered paper sleeve in the store and it came with a just a cheap reproduction. But I haven't had any problems with the sound or disc quality since Chronicles, which was probably ten years ago. I just bought some for half price, no shipping before I was the 6.99 deal. :-( But this included double sets, which I got for 12.99 shipped. Hard to beat.

Cheap CDs are always good.

I think you can change your settings online or something so they don't automatically send you junk.
