I believe they have been ranked for a few weeks. They are still undefeated (at least at the moment).

Yes, they turned down that bowl bid. The bowl is at Boise State's home field...I'd turn it down too.

Would have been a nice matchup between Boise and Ball State before tonight's game.

From Wikipedia:

The payout is $750,000, but teams are required to provide a corporate sponsor, purchase a minimum number of tickets, and stay at a selected hotel for a minimum stay. Because of this, 7-4 UCLA declined an invitation to the Humanitarian Bowl in 2001.

Yeah, I don't see Ball State getting their fans to travel to Idaho to see a football game. They might have been able to get Letterman to talk CBS into sponsoring them though.

They should both get the chance to prove themselves against a good major conference team. One beating the other doesn't prove anything.

That's the first I have heard him speak, but I already have a ton of respect for the guy. He's probably the most selfless coach I have ever seen. I hope he doesn't let money talk him out of a position with a group of guys that he obviously cares about.

I'm surprised anyone takes that bid. You've got to be really desperate to agree to those terms to play in outdoors in Idaho in late December.

He'd look good in orange & blue. ;)

I have heard from a very reliable source that Jimbo Fisher has already been made an offer. Whether it's true or not, I don't know, but my source has been spot on about everything else.

Yeah...some bowl game. It's IN Boise, on Boise's home field.

Nice reward for their best season....play a good team on their home field in a crappy place.

BTW, Boise also declined a counter offer to play Ball State in a neutral location.

Ball State had no claim to a BCS bowl. Undefeated or not, they played absolutely NOBODY, not one good win, all year.

I'm not sold on Jimbo.

Teh sadness! I grew up walking to Ball State games with my dad. We even went to some when they held the longest losing streak in the nation (almost 3 straight seasons 0-11 IIRC). We just watched Brad Maynard punt for them, saying he was so good because he was on the field every fourth play. People in Muncie were in to college football for probably the first time ever this year. I didn't actually go to BSU, but I still hoped they could pull off the undefeated season.

Is this SUNY Buffalo? They are actually being talked about? Wow they must've come a long way. I still remember when they were just happy to be in Div I.
