I had 12.8 installed and checked thru msi afterburner where my gpu's were located.... 6870 master, secondary 6850. Uninstalled 12.8 for 12.9, now 6850 is the master? Also pci slot 1 (6870) runs at 16x and pci 2 (6850)runs x4, could this cause my 6870 to bottle neck since the 6850 is running at 4x. And I'm asking this because I pretty sure the gpu will run at the slower card speed. Any insight in this would be helpful! Thanks

The PCI-E arrangement is what your motherboard is limited too.

1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue) *1
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black) *1
2 x PCIe 2.0 x1
3 x PCI

It shouldn't be too much of an issue though. The 6850 isn't really fast enough to be noticeably bottlenecked by PCI-E 2.0 x4

Then I wonder why my screen flickers when xf is enabled. Seperately both cards run great. They are both oc editions and I've lowered the core and mem clocks, still nothing. Maybe the x4 slot has some loose pins? On a side note, Im hearing that xf drivers don't like uneven bandwidth. True or not? Would an x8 x8 configuration be better than a x16 x4?

What kind of flickering is it? Is it in game or on the desktop? or both?

More so in games, but I have noticed it on the desktop. Currently I'm running the 6870, no problems at all. I figured I might as well wait for my new mother board to come in. That's the reason I asked about the x8 x 8 configuration.
