12.8 beta?

I keep getting driver crashes when browsing internet with firefox with official 12.6. Doesn't seem to happen in games. It's getting really annoying as i can't tell if it's a hardware problem or a driver issue.

have you tried the 12.7 betas? I haven't had a single driver crash since updating to those from the 12.4s.

I'm using Cats 12.6 and no crashes in Firefox. Is your Firefox updated?

I was getting freezing issues in Firefox before but I narrowed that down to a CPU issue.

Yes I'm using firefox 14.0.1. What was your cpu issue? Is a cpu issue able to cause a video driver crash? That seems strange.

I thought AMD said it was moving away from monthly drivers and into a longer cycle, but I guess hotfixes may be the exception. Please let us know if you discover any stability issues with the hotfixes.

I think basically they are skipping the monthly WHQL. I can see how that would slow things down Instead they'll just release bug fix updates and then release WHQL performance drivers ~1/4'ly.

They're no longer doing monthly WHQL releases. Hotfixes and beta drivers are free to pop up when needed.

Would love it if these drivers would fix the scaling issue on boot for my HDMI monitor.

What were the Alan Wake issues?

Also, good to see you posting again, Blasting.

Everything working great for me so far.

First time issue free for me anyways since 12.4. Performance boost for me compared to 12.4 as well.

Running great for me - no issues. Fixed the Skyrim UI issue too (got it in 12.7 betas). Thanks OP!

Damn this thread sank quick, haha. I finally updated to 12.8 happy to report the scaling issue on boot is gone. 😀 While not a big issue, sure was annoying.

Now to see if any of the games I play were negatively affected it.

These drivers a good for me on my 6950 x-fire...but not so good on my laptop...bSD...guess mobile not supported....🙁

I had a strange issue with these that I've never encountered before. I installed them either the day or the day after they were posted here and everything was fine. It was on a 5770 Win 7 64. Clean install, safe boot, driver sweeper, the works. Worked fine since then, through multiple reboots, game play sessions, etc. But then this afternoon I went to turn on the computer and I noticed right away that Windows was in a lower resolution. I check device manager and sure enough the Windows VGA driver was listed.

I had a heck of a time getting the video card to install another driver. I did the whole clean install thing again a couple of times and each time the CCC install software zipped right through the process much faster than normal and wouldn't ask for a restart afterwards like it usually does.

After about six or seven clean driver install attempts I finally got it to properly install the 12.7 betas and now everything seems fine again.

I have no idea what caused this issue for me but I'll sit on the 12.7's for a while now since they seem to be working fine. I wish I knew what happened though, it was like the software refused to acknowledge that I had an AMD/ATI card physically installed. I"ve installed hundreds of drivers in my life and this was a first for me.

But, it's all good now so just reporting what happened to me.

What the heck, I'll try em out. I'm still on 11.12's here. Every other driver I've tried since has caused issues.

update: Ok, so I just downloaded and tried to install them, but it still says I'm running 11.12. And now I'm getting UI stuttering on my desktop.

Haven't had any issues with these so far with my 7970. Happy

Can you confirm the version of the AMD Audio driver for me. I installed the 12.8's to hunt down the audio skipping issue, but i still have the skips unless I run a youtube video in the backround.

This is the version in CCC I now have:

AMD Audio Driver Version 7.12.0.7708

Edit: Running WMC audio works as well. hrm.... looks related to gpu clocks. I just ditched nVidia to avoid a specific video related issue. This issue with AMD looks to be related to HT recievers/hdmi/gpuclocks.

Will try the 12.3's. - scratch that

As long as my clocks are core 500 mem 1250 the audio issue is gone. When they drop to 300/150 the audio skipping occurs. Happens from 12.6 on including betas from what i've seen.

Have you tried the drivers at stock clocks?
