12.5 maximun multiplier on Epox8KHA+...HELP!!

Hey, I just got a new T-Bred 1800+ and unlocked it, but the maximum I can set the multiplier is 12.5(actually 13 but it clocks it down for some reason). It's capable of up to 15, but clocks down to 11.5 every time I try. Anyone know why? How do I make the multiplier higher? I just got the processor today, so it should be the latest series 1800+. The max I can get it to know is 1816 mhz. I always heard that it could go higher with the 8KHA+. I also checked if I unlocked it incorrectly, but the connections all look perfect to me. Someone help me out! Thanks!

If there were no laser burn marks on the L1 bridges then CPU was a Tbred which come with L1s closed, and you did not need to close the L1s as they are connected "sub-surface". If there were burn marks then you got a Palomino, not a Tbred., following does not apply.

To get a higher Multiplier try opening the 5th L3 bridge (if it's a Tbred). Then get into bios asap after reboot and set Multiplier to 5X.
The combination of 5X from the 1st 4 bits by bios plus the 5th bit by the 5th L3 manual mod should set a 5 bit "combination" for 13X, ie, 8X more than 5X because of the open 5th L3.

Before you do anything...
<a href="http://www.beachlink.com/candjac/index.htm">
http://www.beachlink.com/candjac/index.htm</A> link to Workarounds article to understand "why" this might work on your mobo, it has on others. also, Tbred article has Table of settings which will shows all settings vs Multipliers above 13X. Note that not all settings under 12.5X will get 8X more like 5X-->13.5X.

Multiplier Code article also helps to "understand" AMD's Multiplier Code. And remember, the Multiplier module does not care "how and where" its 5 input signal levels were generated. That's why schemes like this are able to work.

my motherboard says it could do up to 15x. its available in the bios. If its unlocked properly, does that mean it should be able to do it?

Yes, you should. You didn't unlock it properly, that is why it keeps going back to 11.5x multiplier when you exit BIOS.

Are you positive that is it? I didn't unlock it properly? Do you know that this motherboard just may not allow faster multiplier settings without cutting the L3 bridge?

My last post here so obsorb and good luck with the unlocked but uneeded (cause it'll work anyhoots) square :
6x and 6.5x not to be used.
7x=15x
7.5x=22x
8x=16x
8.5x=16.5x
9x=17x
9.5x=18
10x=23x
10.5x=24x
11x, 11.5x, 12x, and 12.5x are suspect, but maybe i didn't lower the fsb enough to get them to fire. 14x and 15x are a no go.

13x works as 13x, so does auto (XP2700 default multi)

I too have an Epox 8KHA+ and an XP1800+ (Rev. A). I did nothing to my processor, straight from the box to the motherboard. In the BIOS I have the same options for multipliers, 6 through 12 in .5 increments, then 13, 14, and 15. I can move up from 11.5 to 12 with no problem. When I bump it to 13 it shows 12.5 multiplier (for XP2000+). If I bump it to 14 or 15 it shoots back down to 11.5 on boot.

Since you're having the same problem I would hazard a guess that your attempt to physically unlock the processor failed. Check the guide(s) you used and make sure everything was done properly. AMD unlocking guides are everywhere, so if you do a google search I'm sure you could find better sources than me for unlocking. Good luck.

Please post if you ever figure out what was wrong. I'd be interesting in hearing the solution.
