Is stronghold a good city building/defending game?

Opinions on Crusader Kings? I used to play Knights of Honor and found that pretty enjoyable. Sometimes you just want to play the overlord campaign mode and not the individual battles (as in Total War).

I own it, but haven't played it much for myself. However CKII seems to be pretty much universally praised. From what I've read, many people consider it to be Paradox's best grand strategy game yet.

You might want to check out GOG's Stronghold collection, as it comes with a HD makeover (widescreen + high resolution mod), where Steam's version does not have this (pre Stronghold 3).

Sword of Islam and Legacy of Rome as like mini expansion packs. The Ruler Designer seems neat if you want to create your own ruler, the rest is just songs/portraits/sprite packs it seems.
