Attention: For today only on Gamersgate.com, You can buy the multiplayer FPS/RTS hybrid Nuclear Dawn for a whopping 70% off ($7.50). It uses Steamworks, so you can activate it on your Steam account.

The reason why I'm posting this is because Steam is having a Nuclear Dawn sale and free weekend starting RIGHT NOW. The thing is, on Steam it's only 40% off ($11.99) instead of 70% off ($7.50). If you want to save a few bucks, simply buy the game on Gamersgate, and then activate it on your Steam account. Bada bing, bada boom.

Nuclear Dawn supposedly has a very nice community and they're actively reaching out to gamers to expand their player base. Even though there's not a lot of players right now, the Steam free weekend will definitely change that, and the developers are constantly updating and supporting this game.

Hope to see you guys online.

Since I'm out of school for winter break(and thus my home internet connection will download slowly) I may not bother, but how do you use the free weekend? I don't see a download button or whatever.

Thanks for the heads up, im installing it atm. It is one of those games that IMO really needs a demo since it seems to be a hybrid type of game from what I can tell. If I like it I'll pick it up today, it looks neat, but one of those try before buy type of games for the price range it sits at. Good to hear the devs are being active and involved :D

I'll give it a go also. This was on sale for $6.99 on Dec 3 at Amazon, so they might pricematch/undercut both of the sites above.

This game has a tiny community from what I've seen so I held off on buying it. It sounds a lot like Natural Selection.

You'll probably need to restart Steam. Otherwise go to your Library and just look for Nuclear Dawn it will say 3 days left next to the name. Install and there you go

Looks like Steam got pwned.

Hahah, well the publisher is the one who sets the price, and since this is an indie game, it's actually the developers who do it. So they were like "Well, let's put it on Steam for $12, and then put it on GG for $7 at the same time just to fuck with them lol"

Played through the tutorials so far for both commander and soliders and I like it so far. It reminds me of Allegiance but with soliders instead of space ships. I'll be trying some rounds later as I gotta go out, but I might be picking this up, the game is nicely polished as well.

played a few minutes and reminded me of BF2142, which I enjoyed. I already know I can't commander, as I don't really care for RTS, but the FPS part is fun. Bought it from gamersgate, activated it on steam and saved $4.50 from the steam discount LOL. Thanks for the headsup about the $7.50 deal.

I just played a round and...it's interesting. It didn't grab me but at the same time I definitely don't feel like I wasted time. It seems like the only problem with the gun play is you have no idea where your shots are going but then I think that's probably a result of BC2 and BF3's noobifications getting to me.

Don't think I'll get it now but maybe if it hits $5 on Steam for Christmas I will.

I might be more excited if I knew more about the big picture! Still, first round I came out 11-4, but I think that's more because there was some speedy but weak class running around just waiting to be shot dead...

Maps are small, though. I guess we're never going to get a truly good game with a Big Picture, unless Planetside 2 saves us.

The way to tell/confirm a game is SteamWorks is it will say "Steam Cloud" under game details on the store page - right?
