Why the (asterisk/ampersand/number sign/percent) would you want higher than 1024x768 on a 12.1"? Crap, I wouldn't even want higher than 8x6 on that tiny thing. :Q

it all depends on how good your eyes are.

I have a 15" laptop and it runs at 1024x786 max and sometimes I wish it would be at 1280x1024 native, but whatever...

Ditto, only on my Dell 15" LCD.

1024x768 is pushing it.
I had a Dell with a 15" 1600x1200 screen and I hated it. My map program didn't take scale for high res screens and the text was so tiny. 1280x1024 I maybe could have handled but 1600x1200 was WAY too much.

Definately. We have some 12" iBooks around; I wouldn't want anything any higher on those screens, or you'd never be able to read the text.

Check your local Fry's if you live near one. I bought a Sharp Actius MV12W with 1.13 Centrino, 256MB ram, dvd/cdrw and 40GB hdd a few days ago for $1199. They are clearance, so may or may not have any in your local store. Great deal though, since these are the smaller notebooks and weigh 4.6 lbs with the battery :)
