Dodge would be my last choice personally. Id go Ford, Chevy, or maybe Jeep. The Cherokee was discontinued because they wanted the Jeep Liberty to take its place.

She's upgrading from a 1995 Honda Accord with over 100,000 miles. It doesn't have to be new.
That accord would be worth AT LEAST $5000 here in Ohio. Used hondas have MAD resale value here.

I like the Blazers/Jimmy's, they're solid little SUVs.

Also would suggest a Chereokee (especially over the grand cherokee). I've ridden in both, the cherokee seems like it corners better, the grand cherokee I rode seemed like it was really leaning into the corners. They have high resale value here though, but any Jeep does in this area.

Whoever suggested the element hasn't seen one in person. I saw one when I was up in Ann Arbor last monday, the plastic trim was already fading to gray and it looked like ass.

Id stay away from a Landrover, even if you can find one for the price. Why? They are expensive to own. They require alot of maintaince, and its extremely costly without a warranty. Its partially why their resale is low.

She isn't paranoid, she just saw the accident I was recently in, how the other guy's car was all smashed up and my truck was hardly damaged.

She has been thinking about trading awhile I guess and she decided that it would be a good idea to get something safer (and I suggested it as well).

The CRV is nothign more than a tall Honda Civic. She has an Accord, so she would be going down a notch in quality.

I don't really like Dodge either, but I guess it is the only reasonable choice. It is bigger than the Grand Cherokee and a bit cheaper.

The Blazer/Jimmy is a very old platform, she wouldn't like those (yes, I've driven them). As I said, I won't let her buy an Explorer, that was vetoed by me. :) Otherwise, the Explorer is very nice, I owned a 1998 model myself.

I love the new TrailBlazer, just too much money. I'd rather see her in a Tahoe/Yukon, but she says they are too big for her.

Whatever you end up buying, take her out into a parking lot and set up some cones and have her do some brake checks. He stopping distance is going to be over 50 feet longer than what she's used to. Better off slaming into a parking cone doing some testing than slaming into the back end of another car in an actual emergency stop.
