Does anyone know of the cheapest laser printer that is capable of printing tabloid (11x17&quot😉? This is going to be for home use, so speed and ram is not a concern.

Also, is there such a thing as an 11x17" capable scanner? I haven't seen any, but if they are available, does anyone have an estmimated price?

Thanks in advance

the old HP 3c and 4c scanners were capable, but very expensive and unavailable now. I would look at HP and AGFA's sites for large format scanners.

as far as 11x17 printing is concerned, that is not going to be cheap. you may have to look into the laserjet 8000 series, or perhaps the higher end 4000. also, there are some very good ink printers available for around $800 that print that size, but they can be pretty slow. and i cant remember any of the models or anything. 😉

hope that helps.

At the newspaper where I work we have a large format laser printer that we use for proofing and it cost about $59,000. This is probably out of your price range.

I recently bought an HP 4000DN for work. It does 11x17, duplexing, etc. and cost $3600 CAD. You could get it for less with fewer options.

thanks dkozloski,

I just bought 2. 😉

I think the HP 4000 series, or an older Laserjet 4V might be the best bet.

wow, that is cheap... i am not kidding. that is cheap.

HP4mv is a postscript capable 11x17 printer that most cadd shops will use. You won't be able to afford a new one (typically $2500), but if you can find a used one with only 50,000 sheets through it you would be sitting pretty. This printer is a workhorse and will litterally last forever, we have put hundereds of thousands of prints through them and never had a major break down.
