1156 & 1366 vs 1155 pcie x8/x16 spacing

Why do almost all the 1156 & 1366 chipset boards have stupid cramped spacing of the graphics pcie slots, while almost all the 1155 boards seem to have nice spacing for multiple graphics cards? I never understood why none of the manufacturers wised up and made a product with that feature to have an edge on competitors.

Most 1366 boards are trifire boards, so if going only dual card you can space them out very nicely, ive seen very few 1366 boards that dont give you 2 blank slots between(some, like mine, require a EATX case though). 1156 dont have enough lanes for tri setups so you get stuck with sandwiched cards for most boards i have seen. I guess they finally figured it out with 1155.

I think we'll see most 1155 boards with double blank spacing between the first and second PCI-E, since they can't do trifire.

Yeah, if only 2% of all users use more than one video card, probably only .1% of users use more than 2 cards.

I wouldn't say that skipping the second x16 slot and going for x16/x8 (is that even possible or does it just decrease the primary x16 to x8?) is a great solution on x58 boards. I'm pretty sure that many of the bridge cables wouldn't even reach 4 slots down.

It kind of makes you wonder why every enthusiast board even has an expansion slot below the primary pcie slot?
