Cheapest one I could find on Newegg is an ASUS that's almost $200, and that's out of budget. There are ITX boards with USB 3.0 front panel headers but I can't find a reasonably-priced mATX board with this feature. Any tips? Chipset doesn't matter.

Ah asrock, always providing decent features at a good price, they may not OC the best but they do usually just work.

I have used the Gigabyte GA-Z68MX-UD2H-B3... decent board, not cheap, but not expensive (139.99 AR)

Did some research on both the ASRock and Gigabyte boards mentioned and they seem to use the same Etron USB 3.0 controller that is buggy. :(

Any other 1155 boards use an NEC front panel USB 3.0 chip?

I'd rather not switch over to an AMD A8-3870K over something so trivial as USB 3.0 front ports, but for my usage patterns on the daily driver...

I have an ASrock 990FX Extreme4 with the Etron USB3.0 chip, and so far, when I first plugged in my Microcenter 32GB USB3.0 flash drive, my entire computer froze up.

But then after rebooting, I didn't have the same issue. It was detected fine.

My 1TB Toshiba portable external USB3.0 drive was also detected just fine.

So I'm chalking it up to a fluke and/or static discharge so far.

My z68-UD4 by Gigabyte also uses the Etron chip, and my usb3.0 performance has been stable and fast.

you could get a card like this and use any board you want as long as you have an available pcie slot.
