I am currently running a 1Ghz T-Bird @ 1150Mhz W/ 1.8V. Sisoft Sandra reports 52.0C. Is this temperature right? Is it too hot?

I am running it on a Asus A7V and Glowbalwin FOP-38 W/ Arctic Silver Grease.

Thanks in advance. :)

Bios Version 1005A Or Something Like That... :D

I wouldn't go by what SiSoft Sandra says. It's hard to get an accurate temperature reading, but SiSoft is not the way to start out looking. Asus provides you with a utility called PCProbe. To get the newest version, which is also going to be the most accurate temperature measure, go here.

If you find out, after checking PCProbe, that the temperature reported is still 52 celcius, then you are running WAY too hot. You should not idle over 35 degrees and under a load, you shouldn't really go above 50.

Thanks for the program. I installed it, and it still says the same thing..

52.0C Cpu Temperature.

I have One intake and xhuast fan.

Motherboard temp is 36.0C.

anyone know if there is a problem? With the heatsink not touching, or something like that?

Any feedback and tips is greatly appriciated.

Thanks.

52C is AOK . . . get a cooler room and it will drop accordingly.

corky-g: all righyt. THanks for the awering. I was thinking this t-bird was getting too hot. THe heatsink is warm. I can't believe how much heat a t-bird dissapates even with a FOP38 and a 7000RPM fan.

Thanks everyone.

i have to add that, i have a Enlight 7273. with (3) IBM 20.5 7200RPM Ata66 hard drives, 40x plextor, 12x10x cdrw drive, 6x dvd slot load drive.

I can see why my cpu temp is kinda up there.

52 is fine for a CPU under a load, but if you're idling at 52 degrees you need to figure out what the problem is, or kick it back to the default speed.

Divine hes fine... Asus A7V BIOS 1004 and 1005 dont idle right.... the load temp and idle temp are within 2-3C of each other. Not to add in the fact that the A7V reads temps about 5C too high.

52C, on an A7V 1150mhz t-bird is a pretty normal reading. Expect a full-load temp of around 57C or so.

That being said, 57C is no sweat for a t-bird, if the numbers are "approximately" accurate. Check my sig for radiate and how to calculate theoretical temp.

Mike

Dulanic,

how do you know it reads 5C too high. Compared to what is it reading 5C too high? comapred to theoretical core temp, it is often reading 1-3C too high, but not 5C. If you are comparing the compensated reading versus an external thermistor, maybe, but not compared to core temp.
