Are you on a LAN type internet connection (cable modem)? Do you use a firewall? Sounds like someone may have hacked into your system and encrypted some of your files. I honestly don't know how you would go about accessing them without the key.
 
I do have cable... but I am behind a router and DMZ is not enabled. No shared folders whatsoever either. ughh.
 
What password? My Windows password? I don't use one. I'm the only one who uses this system. I don't have passwords for anything else. 😕
