Well, you are an idiot. Where did I say anything about her skin color? An eleven year old in this country should speak English. If I raised my kids in a foreign country they would be fluent in the local language. I spent some time as a kid in the Netherlands. I moved there at 6 years of age and moved back to the US at age 7....one year and I could speak pretty decent Dutch.
What if she's here legally? Way to be an ass about it. (Yes, you are an ass, because you assumed something, and you know how that goes.)
I think it's ridiculous though. She probably felt really threatened to throw a rock. I think there has to be more to this than is written or the police are huge fvcktards. This has to be some kind of regular occurrence.

seriously, guys, get a grip. english is NOT the official language of the united states. why single out a girl who simply defended herself as having to require additional language skills when she was living in a PREDOMINANTLY spanish-speaking community?
it's sad that this happened, but you all have no sensitivity to the issue at hand. she's a beautiful 11-year old girl who simply tried to defend herself and got in trouble, merely because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Agreed, however America enables a lot of citizens along with non citizens who do not speak the language which further makes them not even try to learn (ex: most forms if not all, have spanish on them as well as english. In more diverse areas, they now have chinese, vietnamese, and french ... there are others, but I live in an area where they have those). Heck, even at the DMV, you can take the written part of the test in another language as so long as you request it.
They come to America, not knowing English, so many English companies decide to go bilingual and put spanish or another language as well as English on their forms, have spanish or other speaking CSR's... etc. And in turn, many of the immigrants, do not even try to learn English.
It's a sad sad circle.
I'm not criticizing the immigrants that have just come to America ... I'm talking about people I've seen/known for years (5-10+) that still have not learned a bit of English ... and they say it's because they don't have to.
