The 11-year-old, her mother and the baby girl, Zuri Whitehead, were on a couch downstairs when the mother fell asleep at about 3 a.m. Friday, Wickliffe police Chief Randy Ice said at a news conference Monday. The mother was awakened less than an hour later by her daughter, who was holding the badly injured infant. Ice said the 11-year-old took the infant upstairs. When she returned downstairs, the infant was bleeding and her head was badly swollen, he said.

Now I am somewhat known for my overly violent solutions to criminal problems, but this is just....I don't know. Not a first of its kind case, but still rare and crazy as it is. Can you even rehabilitate someone like this? The 11 year definately knew what she was doing, there is no "accident" in this case. I also think it's kind of wierd that she had the cops called on her at school (for a non-violent issue apparently), what kind of pre-teen has the cops called on them at school? Might need a lot more background info on the family.

Crazy.

Sounds like the 11 year old is a sociopath or psychopath. What a terrible event. :(

This is false. This is giving psychopaths a bad name. The girl was either badly raised or she is suffering from psychosis. True, psychopaths and people suffering from psychosis go together like peanut butter and jelly but psychopaths have values that go above and beyond the kill.

"We're having a hard time getting (our) heads around this," he said. "You don't see stuff like this."
^This.

What would possess an 11 year old kid (or any age person) to do something like this? Is it just plain insanity? Did this kid "think" she had a motive for killing a baby?

Indeed, it's impossible to wrap your head around something like this.

Actually jealousy could still play a role in this incident. Mother was showering the baby with more attention than she normally shows her own daughter and killed the baby in a jealous rage. It's hard to say without knowing more about the 11 year old or her mental state. None the less this is a tragic event for all concerned and this 11 year girl needs some real help.

I read the article and it is super thin on details. All it says is the girl returned with the baby from upstairs and it was injured. Kind of hard to form any opinion without more information regarding why the 11 yo is a murder suspect.

If it is true, it is sad, but the 11 yo could possibly be rehabilitated if the household was unstable, which lead to poor behavior.

Based on other sources I can see why the 11yo is being charged with murder.

Zuri was flown to Lake West Hospital and later transferred to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland but passed away during surgery on Friday morning, police said.

The baby had suffered 'massive brain injuries, severe damage to the liver, spleen and kidneys, and extensive internal bleeding,' Ice said.

'An autopsy performed by the Cuyahoga County Coroner's Office determined that the cause of death was multiple blunt force trauma to the head and torso,' police said in a statement. 'The death has been ruled a homicide.'

I don't always agree with you but on this we are in 100% agreement. I left for some time due to these kinds of posts getting out of hand. Seems you can't rehabilitate stupid racists...

How will I sleep at night?

Also, what part about my post is racist? Oh wait, I bet you came to your own conclusions to fit your specific agenda, stereotyping people as racist just because they have suspicions. People like you make me sick, GTFU and GTFO of here, added to the shit list. Buh bye.

EDIT - I love how butthurt everyone is getting over something that isnt even there.

I've never seen that phrase used here when it DIDN'T have a racist connotation so Im going with either a racist remark or, since you posted it sans any explanation, trolling - neither of which is a good thing.

I can't stand racism. I literally do not understand it. How can you judge someone or have some notion of what kind of person someone is just because of the color of their skin? HOW?

I have no problem calling people out on it, online or in person. I prefer in person so I can see the look of smugness turn into panic.

Let's play a game:

1) You are on your lunch break (hopefully you work). Stop at a gas station to fill your tank. You see a ghetto-mobile pull in with rims. Out comes a black man with sagging pants, and a wife beater.

What type of music do you hear from the vehicle:

a) Opera
or
b) Gangsta Rap

Does this guy have a job?

a) Yes
or
b) No

Most people stopping at noon on a Monday might be on lunch break. This guy is not wearing work attire. So you can conclude he does not work. Probably lives off government assistance and/or deals drugs for a living. You know damn well he listens to gangsta rap because you never heard anything but gangsta rap coming from these vehicles the last 200 times you came across this scenario. He's probably also packing heat on his person or in his car.

2) The guy drives up with some Toyota Camry. There is a car seat in the back seat. A black guy exits. You hear no music at all. The man is wearing Khakis and clean cut.

You hear no music, but if you had to guess. Does this guy listen to gangsta rap?

a) Yes
or
b) No

Much harder to tell here. But I'd say this man is no threat and I wouldn't look down upon this man at all. Chances are he is not packing heat, and probably doesn't have any felonies.

3) Of the last 10 black men you have run into. How many fit man #1 compared to man #2?

Now we see how racism starts... Most people start lumping the entire populous into a certain demographic based on their experience of interaction. I say I run into man #1 a hell of a lot more than I run into man #2. I live in the Minneapolis area.

If you can't see how people can be racist, it's probably because you just don't want to acknowledge it because it doesn't fit with your views. You have your head in the sand.

PS. I also stereotype white people like I did above for the black man. I'm sure you do as well, and you probably are very much more open to admitting that than stereotyping a minority. Why is that?

If you stereotype all black men as welfare drug dealers and all Harley riders as meth heads then YOU have the problem. Don't bring it here.

I've never tried to guess what kind of music will come out of a car or care what kind of music does.

EDIT: Holy shit. Did you just say that because you saw a black guy get out of a car you assume he doesn't have a job? What the fuck is wrong with you?

I think you are confusing instinct with ignorance. As a human, it is in my brains best interest to form recognizable patterns, so I can make decisions quickly and without hesitation. Part of this process is recognizing other humans, an effective way to sum someone up is how they carry themselves. Hair style, clothes, jewelery, body language, music etc.. are all easily identifiable characteristics, and can be used to quickly judge someone and ensure you are making good decisions.

But something tells me you are more interested in the emotional/mass hysteria aspect of this, where everything and everyone in the known universe is a "racist" (heads up, we are all part of the human race, so you are actually using a self defeating argument when you claim that blacks are of a different race than whites). You seem like the type of person that likes drama, and that likes feeling self righteous. But then again, I am a known rudeguy bigot, so my opinions might be skewed.....
