11 p.m PST difficult to get into forums

Seems as though for me at about 10:50 to 11:00 p.m. every night it's difficult to get into the forums. The best I can describe it is that when on a personal network you can get the network but the router is having trouble handing out DHCP to the computer (If that makes sense).

Is there an update that's done about that time to the forums?

Same thing for me everyday between 1:45-2:00 EST.

I've noticed too, at a certain time (probably that time, but I never really noticed) late at night, it's near impossible. Backup job maybe?

I always assumed that's when the forum Database was restarted. It's always down the same time, for about 5-10min.

You have to admit you are much closer to an answer than any or us, right? You can't ask the powers that be? It's not really that big of a deal but curiosity says an answer would be preferable. This has only started happening since the switch to the new forum software....which I have to admit I was not happy about in concept but it is much better now in many ways.

Yeah, it just happened to me too. Noticed about 1:50am EDT. Went away for a bit then noticed just after 2am things started moving again.

I sent a ping to forums.anandtech.com & i got no lost data but nothing was happening trying to click threw the site during that time.

There was a thread (or at least a couple posts on it in one of the discussion threads) back around the beta and subsequent full launch of vBAT (vBulletin AT). If I remember correctly, one of the admins said that it was routine forum/database maintenance.

10,000 nef threads an hour? What year is this? 2005?

Forums have been fairly slow for a while now.

Maybe it has to do with who hosts the forums. I think it's on a different server than the main site.

that's reasonable but can it be moved by a couple of hours? maintenance at 11 pm pacific affects a lot of users.
