11 min of Portal 2 gameplay

Looks pretty good and looks like it'll be a challenge here.

I like that they they're taking it to the next level and making a FULL game, but I got to wonder if Portal 2 will retain it's popularity with the next game. Portal 1 was so popular because no solution was too hard, at least on the normal maps.

Judging by that video, some of those solutions look like they would stump quite a few people.

I think the british voice is a personality sphere. Basically a talking companion cube. There will be several different ones.

This. Some of that shit was like, "Wow... that's not only hard to figure out but takes some skill too..."

I assume they build you up to that point like they did in the first game. Some of the first games puzzles seemed complicated, but would have been impossible if not for the previous levels giving you the knowledge to know to jump through portals to build speed or fly at angles.

That's the world. Welcome to it.

Looks like the same old Source engine with some motion blur added.
Not that I'm complaining. Am glad they get use out of their engines instead of upgrading to a new one for every game like other companies.

Apart from the ad every 15 seconds, the game looks nice. I was hoping for a continuation of the first one where you were at the end of the first one (outside world). But I guess that is too much.

Bandwidth isnt free, and sponsors are only paying for more intrusive ads these days. Youtube is better but they still have a lot of it. And the video was HD and streamed nicely.

I too liked seeing the background of the Labs and the outdoors. I always thought the portal gun had more potential than just set puzzle rooms.

so...that's 50% of the entire game in that movie? 🙂

I think just about everyone is hoping Portal 2 will be bigger and better than portal 1. But we will have to wait and see.
Remember, even though we never got an Episode 3, it seemed that Valve put an awful lot of effort into Episodes 1 and 2.

What I really can't wait for is the co-op in Portal 2. Playing with someone else is always more fun.

Especially when they jump through your portal of DOOM!
I can see it now, you place an exit portal over a trap and the entrance right under their exit. Would make for an interesting DM with just portal guns, maybe throw a push function to get them through portals.

Are some of you actually bitching that it looks more difficult? My biggest complaint with Portal 1 was that it taught you all these techniques but then stopped short of using them in more grandiose manners. I want some really cool physics puzzles.
