$11 for new 5 1/4" drive slot cover????

Yeah so one of my slot covers developed a small crack in it, that is hardly even noticeable. I e-mailed the company where I bought the case and asked if I could buy another one. They said it would be $5 plus $6 for shipping. I think for $11 I will just keep it with the crack in it. Here is a pic of the crack. I could see paying the $5 for a new one, but $6 for shipping? Anyone else find this ridiculous?

Gimme your address and i will mail ya one. I think I have an extra raidmax cover.

a little wood putty might make it less noticable.

it is a piece of clear plexi over a thin piece of metal with a plastic backing. I don't think woof putty works on plexi 😛

Email the company that made the case and complain about the poor quality of the cover and they will prolly send you one free. I got a case from a friend with no drive rails, i contacted antec and told them exactly that, and they sent me some free 😀

Not only did it break easily, but I wasn't even using it. I took that one out so I could put a cd-rw in and stuck it in a box in my closet. Last week I decide to stealth the drive and when I got the thing out of the box that is what it looked like.

EDIT: You know what now that I think about it that happened during shipping, and I never complained about it because I was just going to take it out and put a drive in anyways. I guess I never figured that I would get into case modding a year later.

ricer solution. buy a sticker. place sticker over blemish. solved!

Not a bad idea. Get one of those AMD/Intel bezel stickers to cover it and make it the last bay and it wont look that bad.

The crack looks like it was caused by over-torquing the screw when the case was assembled. Have you tried backing out the screw with a screwdriver? I'd be willing to bet that the crack would nearly disappear.

there was a place in hot deals a while back where u could send out for free amd stickers. not sure if its still around.

needless to say i have a few left🙂 amd everywhere!

This is the case. If you do happen to have one, that would be awesome.

Well if your case costs only about $40, $11 for a slot cover is way too much. I wouldn't replace it. Heck, it's just a small crack, nothing of a big deal IMO.

This is the case I am speaking of. yours looks more blue over the covers. these are bright silver. is the blue just an artifact or is it really blue?

No they are actually blue. Too bad, but thanks anyway.

I would never put stickers on my freshly modded case. Just not my style.

Tiles2Tech: I took the two pieces completely apart, and it didn't help. The crack is in the middle of the front piece, and it looks like the screws arent doing any harm.
