This mouse is basically sealed on the bottom, so you can use it on an armrest or your pants leg (great for HTPC or laptop). It does have a touch sensor to save battery, which I find super annoying, and you can disable it here:

Use it with my htpc setup, works great on all surfaces...pants, couch, rug. Just tried it on back of dog...works.

Plus it ships with a unifying receiver, which alone retails for $10.

Be sure to disable the touch sensor if you experience any problems with it sometimes not responding.

It is RF. Logitech's website says 30 feet...works fine in my living room fwiw.

Nice find. I like my Anywhere (I have the old version, not the slightly more expensive newer one) better since it's super portable and uses Darkfield technology that works on glass (as well as back of dog), but this one works on just about anything besides glass and is a steal at this price.

I have had one of these for the past year and I LOVE it. Absolutely wonderful for controlling the PC hooked up to my TV, which I use to watch streaming football.
