What kind of maintenance was done? Any upgrades or changes to the forums? Any issues addressed?

Well, from what I see, the search function is now totally screwed rather than semi-screwed. I get "Your search contained ignored words, ignored words are words like a,and,to,between.Please re-construct your search without these ignored words" when searching for any words in any category in simple or advanced search. Sigh. :Disgust;

edit: oh, and the disgust emoticon still doesn't work.

the forums are running a little slow for me also, pages are taking longer than they should to load.

Yup... I can't search for anything which makes many areas of the forums extremely frustrating.

Any update on when the forums will be fixed? Why is it that these forums have such a hard time working after an update. Are updates not tested before they are made live?

I think "search" button is now "try this button, then go searching through the forums for hours because this doesn't work"

all i need is to see my threads that i've posted in.

heck, some forums have a button specifically for that. (new replies in your threads)

geez.. why is SEARCH so hard to fix?

or why not just reboot the entire forums and start anew?

ie:
start over and install a virgin copy of FuseTalk

Why keep fixing things that aren't broke.. is forum management really that hard.. is the forum admin paid or free?

You would think one of the largest tech sites could have a half ass working forum.

Hey all, your friendly neighborhood AT editor here;

I don't have the complete details on the outage, but I have been told the DB cluster needed to be taken down for emergency maintenance. From the sounds of it, it may have been a hardware failure but I'm not sure, I'll see if I can get you some more information.

FWIW the AT forums are *blazing* fast for me since the outage. Whatever you guys did, it was a good thing. :)
