11-14-06 Group asks Rumsfeld, Gonzales & Tenet to be charged with War Crimes in Germany

At best a PR stunt at this point---but precisely the kind of PR Rummy deserves.

And this one will basically boil down to a kids playground taut---"you and whose army will make me."

But Rummy may live to see the day when he is hauled before the Hague as an international war criminal. Along with GWB and Cheney---and quite a few lower level people.

US co-operation in their prosecution may be the simple cost the international community will demand as a down payment on the internationl communitity efforts to bail us out of the mess we are creating in Iraq.---and given the rate the Iraqi situation is going from bad to worse---it may well be a price the US will cheerfully pay when the facts come out.

Not saying it will play out that way---just saying that its a non-zero probability we may face after they are out of office.--- after 2009---or sooner if by impeachment.

There are many hidden facts just waiting their times to surface.---and uneasy should rest the heads of those that did the deeds.

The US neither signed nor ratified the treaty for the ICC. Only 100 countries ratified the treaty. The USA has such illustrious company as Iran, Iraq, Cuba, Angola, Uzbekistan, Russia, and Haiti.

But . . . here's the kicker . . . you ever heard of the Geneva Conventions? Signed and ratified by the USA. Reading is fundamental

Let's not even get started with extraordinary renditions. Those violate international law, our law, and usually the laws of countries from which people were snatched.

This is purely political, hence the reason behind my response. To think otherwise requires a long stretch of the imagination which you have clearly shown here and in the past.

If it isnt political, why not bring charges against the people who have actually been convicted in a military court for the crimes?

Either way the Germans have no way to actually enforce any decision made within their country in ours. Again this goes back to the political nature of these types of proceedings and the reason why we rightfully didnt join the ICC.
