LOL, AMD needs to stop releasing drivers every other 4 days.

When are driver developers going to setup a patching system?

So, after all those days, we finally have crossfire for the HD5000 series and not just for the HD6000...Will users with dual HD4000 cards be doomed to live without crossfire in Skyrim tho?

They have a patching system that releases a new patch on a monthly iteration.

However, when games are released mid patch, or right before a patch is released, there is no time to get final changes made. So they do these mid patch releases. Which personally, I am happy about. As it means I don't have to wait as long to get fixes/optimizations for a given game.

with 11.11b drivers my 4870 crossfire setup works fine in skyrim, 1680/1050 on ultra, stays at the 60fps cap usually with random dips into the mid 40s

Rage runs worse on 11.11b than it did on 11.10 despite the so called crossfire tweak. AMD needs to get their act together with drivers and crossfire. They managed to sell the approach to a lot of customers and this autumn its not been uncommon for the games to not have a working driver for at least 4 weeks after the games release. Having so many negative scaling games really doesn't help matters.

That's one big 147mb patch...

And let me tell you, I have Tri-Crossfire unlocked 6950s and on none of the current driver sets does Skyrim run properly, it only uses 2 of 3 GPUs and even then at times it scales negatively (and yes I clean out my system every time before I install a new driver).

ATI's Crossfire support is a mess and I'll never go with them again.

Just don't use dual card setups and go with the fastest single GPU available. That's the real issue here. SLI isn't a bed of roses by any means.
