1090T now at 229.99. Why is it so low?

All the rumors I have read say it is same stepping and is 125W TDP...just a minor clockspeed bump and nothing else. But I don't know for sure, nothing confirmed.


I got 3.5 outta my 1055t without even trying. Maybe these are just the best chips of the bunch ? I assume that my 1055t is the same as the 1090t its just the 1090 was the better part on the harvest from the wafer ?

I wonder if the 1100t is just the cream of the harvest drop from the wafer runs for the 1090 etc. I geuss they figured they could build enough chips based on demand and they knew roughly what the best of the batch ratio was going to be so they held those back.

But seriously my 1055t clocked to 3.5ghz literally with no voltage mods and a multiplier bump and a small tweak on fsb.I think I just got a really good 1055t.
 
Which power supply do you have? It is my understanding that the 1055t (125W) sees a huge wattage jump when overclocked.

I'm not seeing too much increase in power from the voltage increase, CnQ disabled

Idle from the wall, the setup in my sig to stock voltages was 263w vs 255w
 
Bulldozer is starting today and will be much faster than Sandy Bridge ( exactly at the same way first Athlon was faster than PIII) , Bulldozer will be even with Ivy Bridge and will start loosing something later against the next architecture.
Your so knowledgeable, what education was required to get a career in the future? I'm thinking about 2020-2030 timeframe.
 
Actually the first 45nm try of bulldozer was never released by AMD , some work made for that cpu was used to convert Phenom1 in Phenom2 , the 32nm Bulldozer is target to compete at least against Ivy Bridge,
AMD have a much slower architectural change , current K10 architecture ( that is nothing more than a 64 bit K8 architecture) started back to the Pentium III , Pentium4 era , and did all the work until today.

For sure there will be some improvement in the future ( same as K8 evlving to K10) but buldozzer architecture must last for 10 or more years ( AMD don't have enougth money for a faster architecture development )

I'm sorry for my English, but I hope to be understood:

The differences between 95W 1055T, 125W 1055T and 1090T 125W, in in the Vcore are only necessary in a particular frequency.
type respectively: 1.25 V / 2.8 GHz, 1.35 V / 2.8 GHz, 1.35 V / 3.2 GHz

Hence, we see that to say that they will all 4GHz OC, but later, 1055T 95W and 125W are the same, and the 1090T is able to go higher.
So if the Vcore is necessary to arrive at the same frequency is lower, except for CPU "strange", the top models allow still more.

The 1100T, in my opinion, to grant more like 20-30MHz OC MAX, at 50MHz. What will change will be OC-4 4.1 GHz, 4 GHz RS DU. against a lower current.

For ease of understanding, since my test (1090T):

1,225V for 3,6GHz.



4GHz 1,325V



1,450-1,475V 4,3GHz RS DU

1,65V 4,5GHz X6


1,65V 4,7GHz X1

Cooling system: liquid for RS DU waterchiller + (up to now, condensation problems, +10 &#176😉 for extreme OC.

Ahh I didn't even have to touch the voltage and according to my amp probe it might be pulling 140w tops.

I noticed no real change in power consumption. I would imagine that needing a voltage bump would incur the biggest penalty over increaseing the clock speed and multiplier a bit.

SOME people can get it for $200 most can not. Even people near a MC might not be able to get it if its not in stock.

I know, but it is possible. And i think with the launch of SB in jan the i7 prices will drop more. Amd is beating them to the punch with price drops before xmas and i think will sell a ton of 6 cores because of it.

Not only that but if you do live near a MC you can get a 6core AMD chip and board for about the cost of just the i7 cpu.

I have Intel, 775, now but am waiting till SB and BD come out for my next upgrade. Only reason I went intel was they were the best bang for the buck for a dual core CPU at the time (Pentium D). So I always build for bang for the buck, not highest performance.

But I do love me some good competition. 🙂
 
Considering you can get a socket 1366 i7 for $199 on sale it had to go cheaper to compete.

And at microcenter you can get a decent AM3 board in a combo with an AMD processor for $20, while that socket 1366 board will cost you $180+

Still looking at a good $100+ difference to go socket 1366 instead of AM3.
