So I have 2x 1080ti in SLI, and it seems to be nearly the same FPS as just 1 1080 in games like Tomb Raider, Witcher 3, etc.

Is SLI really that bad now or are particular games that will benefit?

Resolution is 3440x1440, right under 4k, so should see some benefit, no?

It depends on the game. Some game engines don't support multi GPU idtech for example, some support it but not well and some support it well. I think it also has something to do with driver optimisation as well. :)

EDIT: I think we may start to see less support for multi gpu in game engines given the develop for console first philosophy.

I noticed the Witcher and GTA 5 at 4K you could run much higher settings with Titan XP SLI and good gains in RTOR. That’s with 5960x at 4.6 and Using HB bridge. No difference in fact slower in Arma 3 but could use SSAA and it never looked better. The best scaling was never or rarely better than 50%.

There are massive benefits for some games. I have been running CF setups previously and that was the same. I remember back in the day I was running 2 * 7970Ghz in crossfire and a single card couldn't handle crysis 3 maxed out but two could no worries. You just have to be aware going in that SLI/CF isn't necessarily going to do anything for you. Multi GPU is more useful for games like Far Cry, crysis, metro, watchdogs etc. if you want to max the settings including AA at higher resolutions. For 1080p gtx1080ti in SLI is overkill.
