So I decided to upgrade my 6 year old 1080p 60 hz to the 1080p 144 hz (Asus PG248Q) but just before I do that I want to know if I should pay an additional 100$ to get the monster 1440p 165 hz from asus (Asus VG27AQ) , both monitors are 1 ms and come with g-sync but the VG27AQ has IPS which the PG248Q doesn't .

My reg -

Asus TUF 1660 super
i5 7600K overclocked
16gb corsair vengeance 2133 mhz XMP profile .

* Edit - I play all kinds of games (cod , bf , gta v , moba games..)

Yes, I would pay extra to get a 1440P 144Hz LCD monitor. If you're going to upgrade anyways, might as well go "all the way" with your upgrade, rather than have to upgrade AGAIN in 2 or 3 years.

Edit: Forgot to add, unlike GPUs, monitors often have a lifespan of 10 years or more.

I agree, though you will likely need a new more powerful video card to go with the new monitor.

Why not try the AOC 24G2U/MSI Optix G241/Asus VG249Q?

All of them have IPS(IGZO) 1080p/144 Hz display, that uses Panda panel that is widely considered best value/bang for buck panel out there available?

All of them are G-Sync compatible. AOC 24G2U costs 179$, as far as I remember.

The Mhz improvement is not significant, but going to 1440p and IPS is a huge step up. The monitor becomes suitable for productivity and pretty much anything. The price difference is totally worth the upgrade.
