As was I,

However.. I heard that you can only get 720p with the cheaper THX only ones..

And with video two you could get 1080... ( I also thought that Video 2 was only better shielding)

Huh?

The signal doesmt care who's logo is on the cable that carries it. THX is only a standard that one pays a royalty to put on a product. Use whatever you like.

I'm not talking about the logo..

Monster Wise,

They have THX Cert. and Monster Video 2.. ( supposedly better shielding )

Can i achieve 1080i with the lesser cable?

If you mean a cable that can carry a standard HDTV signal, yes. I went will less expensive cables and they work fine.

Ok, i just wanted to make sure 1080i could be achieved with the lower end cable.

Are the differences between the two just shielding?

the THX certified monsters are the cheaper of their cables, unless you mean the "ultra" certified ones..

and like winstonsmith said.. any cables will carrry the signal, it's shielding quality that differs.. you don't need expensive cables to achieve 1080i..

salespeople BS everyone on that kinda crap becaue the store makes oh.. 50-100% margin on accessories. :D

I've gotten 1080i with RCA cables...granted I only used them for a few minutes. My normal cables are Acoustic Research.

50-100% is low for cables.. Many cables at Best Buy are marked up 400%+

I just wanted to be totally sure that ANY componet cable was capable of 1080i.

Resistance, inductance, capacitance, and susceptibility to interference are the ONLY factors that affect a cable's performance.
