I downloaded some film in 1080i format, do I need a special player to watch it on a regular dvd player/tv combo? (ie NTSC )

or do i have to somehow convert from 1080 to ntsc resolution?

its in parts of .ts files i dont know how to join them though

yea i can get them to play individually in nero showtime, how would i get it to be one fluid movie though? i have 100 100mb files.

and theres no way to get them to play on a NTSC tv without re-enc right?

These are digital files, probably high definition, why would you want to reencode them to NTSC?

I suppose you could output them over an S-Video out if your videocard supports it.

HDTVtoMpeg2 will combine them all into one file, or you can use TheaterTek, which plays them all at once without pauses.

because i want to watch it on my plain jane NTSC tv with my plain jane DVD player.

and i doubt that will work unless they get reencoded, right?

1080i =1920x1080
ts = transport stream
ntsc is much much lower resolution, why would it be able to handle hdtv? dvd is 720x480i for instance.. and thats assuming u have animorphic wide screen tv, its even less with regular tvs. hd has 3-6x the resolution
cant playback hd video smoothly? hd strains systems, a lower end system will not cut it. ts is already easy as its only mpeg2. wmv/h264 is murder

wait so i can just burn this on a dvd and it will play??? how using what program? theres no vobs or anything does that matter?

my goal is to watch it on my TV which isnt HD or anything fancy.
