So i got to play with a Hitachi 1080p set (with a build in hard disk with 1080p demo content) and a few other 1080i sets...

It was a bit smoother, but i didnt think it was worth a $1000+ difference in price)

I havent seen 1080p signal over HDTV, but I could see the interlacing in 1080i and that bothered me greatly. If 1080p signal is like the solid signal that my LCD has on my computer, then Id probably see the difference.

Watch a 60fps source and tell me that.

I dunno if the demo was 60fps, but it was def. 1080p.

I've seen some Blu Ray stuff in Japan and it was stunning on 50" and 65". Not sure if the sets were 1080p though but it looked stunning.

How far were you from the display? I suspect from 8+ feet (normal viewing distance) hardly anyone would be able to tell the difference.
