1080? 1440(p?)?

Right now I believe I am using: http://www.newegg.co...N82E16824009145.When I do finally get a new computer I may pick http://pcpartpicker....-monitor-pb278q. Think the change from what I use now to what I may eventually get is overkill? Also if your curious as to my GPU, a 7970 with 3 GB of VRAM.

If you all wish to suggest other monitors fine but a few things:

- 23 - 27 inches (widescreen)
- At the very least the resolution should be 1080p
- DVI/VGA & HDMI
- I am colorblind (red-green), I don't know how much that would effect me being able to tell a difference between LED or not. Or TN/IPS

Keep in mind that if you are going to be gaming at 1440p, you're going to need to go SLI/CrossFire in order to get playable framerates at very high settings now and in the future for the most demanding of games. And then you start having to deal with microstutter, larger PSU, more heat, more fans, more noise, etc...

On the other hand, if you can deal with a 24" 1080p monitor, then a single card should always be able to deal with what you throw at it.

im starting to think a 27" 1080p 120hz 1ms is the way forward. even if you get 90fps its better with vsync than 60fps with suttering at 1440p with SLI

How color blind are you? I'm Red/Green color blind too, but using 2560x1440 is definitely worth it, and I use a single GTX670 for gaming just fine.

I have an Achieva Shimian Lite 27" 2560x1440 and LOVE it. It's the one coupled with 2 EVGA GTX670s in SLI. Crysis 3 is stunning.

Another vote for 1440P here. It makes everything on your PC much more enjoyable. For gaming, while a single GTX 680 feels very "borderline" at this resolution, for the most part it runs fine, and your card is even better suited for this resolution.

That's the odd thing, for the most part I can tell red and green apart but some things like cars may (or may not) look different to me. Traffic lights look different but the red and yellow seem to look similar to me than red and green. This emoticon - seems red or pink to me. It seems to be shades - extreme red or green of either side (0 or 255).
