I bought a 1070 EVGA FTW from amazon warehouse.

Card arrived and has some pretty nasty coil whine.

I can hear it as I run Heaven benchmark and easily listen to the whine ebb and flow with the benchmark. So dumb. I guess that's what I get for saving 40$.

I'm going to return it. I don't want this.

However how would you recommend I proceed?

Log into your Amazon account.
View order.
Click return item.
Fill out the form.

Sounds silly but Amazon is pretty lax on returns....Unless you've abused them.

Yeah. I just bought another and they'll take back the one with the coil whine.
I'll keep trying till I get one without a coil whine.

Now I know why there are a fair number which show up in the warehouse. Bummer the product suffers from this.

I'd put up with the whine for 40%-50% off, but not 30$ off.

Well I bought another EVGA 1070. This time its the SC2.

It has coil whine too (brand new) but its nowhere near the whine that the other one had.

I'd love to get one with 0 coil whine.

Its so strange. Both cards whine the most when EXITING the Heaven Benchmark (at the credits screen).
Is the card dumping memory? or something?
I am also able to detect slight changes in whine based on load/loading between scenes of the benchmark. The cards whine in the exact same spots.

With this card it would be impossible for me to hear the whine when gaming with headphones or even normal game-play.
I might run a couple more benchmarks to see what happens.

So strange. I wonder if you could swap coils on the board to get rid of the whine.
