1066 vs 800

I am going to be upgrading from 2GB of ram to 4GB. I was thinking about getting 1066 ram. Is going with 1066 going to help my overclock? Meaning is it going to make it a bit more stable or run cooler? I currently have 2GB of 800.

System specs for s&g's

E4500 @ 3.0GHz
Gigabyte P35 DS3L
2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer 800MHz
500GB Western Digital Black
eVGA 8800gts 640 @ 620/1800
Vista x64

To answer your questions: Sort of and no.

The faster memory will give you more flexibility in terms of which memory dividers you can use and still stay inside the RAM's capabilities while running close to the RAM speeds you paid for. Having faster RAM will not make your system any more or less stable nor will it run any cooler.

All that said, RAM is so cheap right now, your talking about maybe $10 or $15 difference between 800 and 1066. I mean I paid a hair over $300 on 2GB of DDR2 1000 just over two years ago. :Q And that was a good deal at the time. You can pick up this OCZ 4gb set for $33 after rebate, shipped free today. They are nearly giving ram away!

With an e4500? Keep in mind your fsb is 200MHz, DDR2-800 memory will let you run your CPU at twice its rated speed before you even have to overclock the memory.

Buy quality DDR2-800 instead of crappy DDR2-1066. Look for CAS 4 or 5 at 1.8-1.9V and you'll be happy.
