Ok I need some input here. Thanks all for reading.

Ok I have a 760 4GB and although Unreal Tournament runs at 60fps at all times, when I turn on graphics to highest, then its laggy and slower framerates. Im ok playing with high and what not. This is the only game I play. My question is

Should I buy a 1060 GB now and enjoy it for a year and a half until 1180 Ti comes out. Or should I stick with my 760 then of course a year and half later get the 1180 Ti.

Oh and money isn't a issue btw.

Thanks a bunch

If money isn't an issue, the 1060 6gb will easily be a nice jump in performance. Then just get 1180ti when it releases.

Although, if money isn't an issue, why not get a 1080 or 1080 ti right now?

Thanks for your reply tweak115. I mean money is a little issue,, if I get a 1080 now,, Im stuck with it in a way. Where as a 1060 6GB is 300 dollars,, I can sell it for when time comes to buy a 1180 Ti

You can sell any card later.

The value drops on all of them when a new card is released.

I am not sure it will be a huge difference between 1080ti and 1180ti. Maybe I am wrong but you shouldn't see the difference in simple gaming. You can see the difference in benchmarks and that's it. I remember when I was the switch from 960 to 1060 for better wow performance I do not feel much better performance. Now I prepare myself for a new expansion called the Battle for Azeroth by buy wow gold to have not only performance but just better gear to level cap level as fast as it is possible.

A couple things to consider: if the 1180ti is the only card in this coming lineup that you'd be interested in getting, realistically you probably won't be able to get one until next August or September, so would Unreal Tournament be the only game you'd play for the next year or so?

If you think you might be interested in some graphically intense games, or play at something higher than 1080p, grabbing a 1080ti now to enjoy for a year may not be a bad idea if the money is in your budget. However, if you truly only play Unreal Tournament, possibly a few other titles that are easy on a GPU, I think grabbing the 1060 now and an 1180ti later will keep you and your wallet happy. It's a nice jump up from your 760 and it sounds like you could part with the money pretty easily.

From reading your thread, I don't think you need a 1080ti, and I up until recently owned 2 1080tis so I'm not somebody who thinks they are overhyped for gaming and a waste of money.

If a 1060 is good enough for you, why would you want to buy a 1180 ti? Wouldn't that be a waste of money?

You can buy a 1070 card and save big money and getting almost the power of a 1080. They are very close in performance.
My two cents:)

If money isn't a huge deal, I would probably get something like a 1070 now. Getting a 1080 might just tick you off at the price you paid when the 1180 comes out, a 1060 might tick you off for the performance you could have had for a similar price when the 1160 comes out. the 1170 will be better, for sure, but you won't feel like you paid top dollar for a card that is marginally better.

I'm in the same boat as the OP except I fly simulators and I'm thinking about getting this 1070ti, its $429 now.
