Heat wave broke Saturday afternoon about 2pm. Winds shifted from out of the North, a few clouds but not a drop of rain. Temp went from 100 to 80 by 3pm, then down to 73 by 9pm and low humidity.

Feels great.

At 102, 2012 is hottest Fourth of July on record

Wednesday was one of the two hottest Independence Days in Chicago’s history

Temperatures hit 102 degrees at O’Hare Airport for about 15 minutes Wednesday afternoon, officials said. That ties the record high temperature for July 4: 102 degrees — set back in 1911.

One death may have been caused by the scorching heat

Iona Kendrick, 95, of the 9300 block of South Green, was pronounced dead at 8 p.m. Tuesday and may have been one “possible” heat-related death, the medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy was inconclusive, “pending additional studies,” officials said. If the medical examiner eventually rules the death was caused by the heat, it would be the first such death this year.

High temperatures Thursday and Friday could reach 105 degrees

It hit 97 here today...but only 17% relative humidity.

Not comfortable, but not unbearable. (especially inside with the AC cranked on)

I was at my parents and it was 102 degrees... I think about 112 heat index, so it could've been worse. The best part is that the power was out for 3 days, which also meant no water.

Phew, it is comforting knowing that in a span of over 100 years, the temperature has not risen even a single degree.

What's cool is I didn't even have to light my fireworks---I just put them in the sun for a second or two and BOOM!

Yeah, I spent the entire day in the pool yesterday. I'm house sitting for the week and their air conditioner is set to 69 but is constantly running and internal temp is about 73 during the day. Glad I'm not paying that bill. My AC is set to 84 at home since I'm not there. Not complaining, but I saw a guy post on my FB with an internal car temp of 128 degrees F during the day yesterday.

In Minneapolis here we hit 101 on the 4th, a new record since at least on paper. But the humidity is in the +60% range.

At least this is not France and Europe where there was 35K deaths in 2003 according to the wikipedia.

good god. 101 and humidity in the 60% range? that has to suck.

I can deal with high temps if the humidity ain't bad.

Today is going to suck. 102 with about 30% humidity. ugh
