so this case isnt a black, but it's a grayish black eh? thats what they say anyway... since they have black floppies and black dvd roms 'n' stuff you can buy, do they have like a standard black (like the standard beige)? or are they different shades of black?

I bought this case, and I built my new system with black components. For my CD-ROM, I used a Teac 40x 540-E with a black face. It doesn't quite match the grayish-black of the case, but it definately looks more attractive than a beige faceplate. For my floppy drive, I got a Teac with a black face. This is the same shade as the CD-ROM. I intended for my system to be completely black without having to spraypaint anything...then I got to the CD-RW. I couldn't find any high quality and fast ones with black faces, so I had to settle for a white faced one. This isn't that bad though, since after the drives are in, you can close the front door on it which doesn't show any drives.

I got the sx1030B also. Great case! I kinda like the contrast between the black case and white 5.25" drives, but a white 3.5 is ugly. You can pick up a 3.5 fd for ~12+8 for shipping at computergeeks.

screw that...20 bucks for a floppy? just take the faceplate off the floppy, cover the spots you don't want to paint, and spray it.

I won't even pay over 11 for a floppy at the show. I use it a max of once every two months.. :p

btw, I keep the door closed more often than not, so all I see is an imposing black case that sounds like a tiny turbine :D

My stealth black IBM P96 monitor matches the black/greyish color of my SX1030B case. I haven't bought any other black components, so I can't really compare the color to anything else.

I really wish the door was more sturdy or opened to the other side... I've had to take the door off so I wouldn't break it by accident. White drives showing... nasty...

I have the black 1030, and white phers. When my company does the bronze black color again I will have scraps to experiment. Thin black plastic glued and baked. I am fortunate enough to have access to acrylic skins at work, so I can mod most componets(its an itch though)that can be disassembled, waiting keeps me from saying bye bye warranty. the no bake glue is bondo fiberglass resin. these are permenent mods it takes sanding to get it off. Paint sucks because it looks cheap on plastic when you know its been painted, am I right Leonardo?
