For editing 1 gig files in photoshop, yes.

For gaming, no. It will slow ya down slightly.

in general use and gaming, you will see no increase in performance. even though many people here running win2k have 512megs of ram (including myself), 256megs or 384megs is all that is really needed for most purposes. getting more than 512megs is usually useless unless you really need it (unless it's just bragging rights;)). what applications do you use and, more importantly, what apps do you use concurrantly? use the task manager to see your peak memory usage over the course of a day...using the computer as stressfully as you would realistically use it. also, check your current memory usage during different tasks. if you see you go well over 512megs or use more than 512megs frequently, you might want to get more. if you don't use over 512megs, even using your computer hard...save the money or spend it elsewhere

Nothing more than CS, Nascar 4, GPL, GP3, and Falcon 4...mostly sims. Other than that...it's mostly some office applications...which i know do not need more than 512mb. so i guess i don't need it then...thanks again!
