i think it revealing. they're hardly threatening to strangers. the JWs i see everyday are usually just standing off to the side somewhere with small leaflets in their hands.
they say nothing, sometimes they smile, they're usually deferential. but to get to know them means eating alot of bizarre indoctrination.

54. Women cannot pray in the presence of men without a hat
72. You cannot support your country
79. God is not omniscient "all knowing"
94. You forbidden to say "God bless you" when someone sneezes.

Lets see:

54. Women can not say a blessing without a head covering when other men who are JW's also are present.
72. Define support? Nope they will not join the military and fight for America, but they do obey all laws and regulations.
79. Incorrect.
94. I wouldn't say forbidden, but I think it's more of a taking gods name in vain or some crap like that.

They are discouraged from attending college - but not from standing on campus with boxes of bibles? They weren't even actively trying to hand them out. They were just standing there. With boxes. Of bibles. That's creepier than trying to convert everyone.

"My, my, everyone's looking educated this morning" is the only thing I heard them say.

Maybe they were waiting for the muslim chicks or something.

I don't think they are discouraged as long as their faith does not suffer because of their studies. I guess it's a double edged sword, but many of the JWs I've met have college degrees.

This whole article is kind of screwy. In some places it repeats itself (can't own/wearcrosses, don't buy christian emblems, don't wear christian jewlery), and others it contradcits. If JWs can't marry non-Witnesses, why do they need to worry about placing the elders above their spouse they can't marry?

A great many of these stem from the same valid idea, but since this website doesn't tell you why. When you can't hold an authority above you but God (and can't support any earthly government), it does become hard to salute the flag, run in an election, vote, serve in the military, etc etc.

Not accepting some medical procedures because they come from blood may seem strange, but its a close concept to Jews and Muslims not eating pork, but there is no "Watch the Jews" page about that.

So, really, this is the list of 50 odd things.

41. Jesus did not die on a cross but an upright pole

yeap. paintings over the years have changed what Jesus was on. one of the science (maybe history) channels had a good program about it. They were able to prove that nailing a person in the hands and feet would not allow a body to stay up.

But havinga person on a pole with more like a T then a cross they were able to keep them up. also it allowed the organs to sink in the body.
