My NEC ND-1300A will burn the $.20 DVD-Rs shop4tech sells at 4x. Have burned them all without error so far. They're MUST001s. Here is the link. My NEC ND-2500A also seems to want to burn them at 4x. For half the price, I'm willing to wait a few more minutes :) (Oh yeah, they're $37.80 after the above coupon code is used on 200 of them)

You can apply it on the 50 pack or probably less. I just tried that you only save $2.65 on the 50 pack with this coupon and then twice that savings on the 100 pack or so.

Thanks Kazuo, just ordered 100 of those Sonic 1-4x DVD-R's with the coupon code, came to about $20 shipped for 100 of 'em. Hopefully they work out ok. I didn't have a great experience with the new Ritek G04 matte's the ones that say Version 2.0 on the top and are in the colorful Ridata packages that they are using now. They seemed worse for me than the older Ritek G04's matte top with no writing on top in the red and white packages. I'm going to just try these Sonic's for the heck of it as my DVD burner was listed as being compatible. There are enough positive reviews to warrant a $20 total expenditure.

Oh and somehow I doubt the Matrix are better than G04's JasonK.

Well, good luck with them, hope they work out for you. The 2x Sonic (MUST) discs work at 4x in both of my drives though, so I'll be sticking with them.

Oops meant to say the 1-2x white top Sonics.. did not see the 4x ones in time and they were a few bucks more as well. I don't believe there is any way to know if you are going to receive the 'MUST' or the 'LONGTEN' Sonic's. I'll be checking that media code with DVDInfoPro when they do come.

There is a website to check user reviews on DVD media, you can search by manufacturer or media code.:

Same here. Bought 200 of them, burned around 40 already. No coasters. can only do 4x. no biggie. PS2 backups loads quicker than my imation discs.

Hmmm I bought 100 of these at newegg for 33 bucks after 10.00 MIR.

I can get 6X out of mine stock 2500A NEC ... I'm happy with them so far no coasters. I kind of like the finish on these the bottems look the same but the top are silver and seem to have thin clear coat ... Sharpie is no problem for mine. Only draw back from the new egg deal is DVD+R but I'm using mine more for storage since I stream all my media.

I understand frm videohelp.com that Ritek is losing it's sterling touch with the G04's. Apparently, they've sold so many discs that the current batches are sub-par. I'd totally avoid them for a while IF & WHEN they fix their manufacturing issues....or they could go back to their history & tradition of producing crappy discs (pre-G04).

If you're looking for cheap, quality discs, look at Prodisc--better reviewed than Ritek G04.

For top-line media, Taio Yuden and Maxell (Verbatim also that isn't CMC) rule the roost. Stay away from media labelled "Made in Taiwan". Look excusively for "Made in Japan or Singapore."

Where is the best place to get a good price on Taio Yuden and Verbatim discs? I hear good things about both of those, especially TY...

THX for the post. Great price. I'm giving this deal a go despite questionable rep of shop4Tech.

I used free shipping on my 100 Ritek's and it took about a week to PA. No problems with shop4tech IMO.

79 cents per disc is well worth it? Personally, I figure I'll be not looking at the stuff on many of the discs I'm burning, or giving them away, and so $79/100 doesn't appeal :) Taiyou Yuden discs are somewhat overrated as well, IMO. I always figure that I can make 3 or 4 copies of the stuff in question, store them in various places, and keep it safer than 1 disc would of a good brand. I mean, a Taiyou Yuden is just as useless as a Princo if it gets scratched. Besides, if it reads without data errors, I can copy it to good media once they drop in price :p
(I know, no one scratches their discs, right? I treat every disc with as much care as possible, yet I still drop them occasionally...)
