Where in the world do these guys come up with 730MBs/80Mins for these CD-Rs?!?!

Are they taking overburn into consideration? And perhaps jerking up your CD Burner?

Must be a typo.

they use 730megs in the description for the 50 pack too

and they sell 8x CDs that they list as 80min/700megs

edit: noticed on pricewatch that there are other places selling these also as 730meg, lowest is $15 but no free shipping

These could be 730 meg CDs. I have seen 90 minute and 99 minute CDs as well.

Aquarius,

99 minutes is the absolute maximum capacity you would ever see for a CD-R. The standard CD can only hold 99 minutes if you record edge to edge. Most blanks have much less capacity because it is not as reliable to record to the edge.

It's very similar to 1.44mb floppies. They have a theoretical limit of 2mb per disk but MS made it format to 1.44mb for more reliability.

Is there really such a thing as 730? Either way its kinda expensive for 100 at .33 a piece for blue/silver.

I've got some 90min/800MB CD's. The only program that I know of that can make use of anything over the 80m/700MB is Nero. Also make sure your drive supports it. Sony's won't.
