i wonder what the affordable part of the x-prize is set to? 200% poverty line? 1x median household income?

These are the proposed rules here. It looks like the car needs to be cheap enough to be able to sell 10,000 units to their "target market".

They have two classes, too... a 4 seat mainstream car class and a 2 seat sports car class.

boomers could buy that many and then congratulate themselves for saving the planet yet again.


edit: to put that sales figure in perspective, lexus sold 35,000+ LS sedans last year. and those are really expensive.
