1000VA/600W Ultra UPS -- Good Deal?

Anyone have any experience with ULTRA Ups's? I've had fine luck with their PSU's.

I need a new one but not sure of any deals going on currently.

hmm Ultra in its history wasn't known as a top end of UPS's, i wouldn't trust them since they're pretty new. go with APC

I half agree with LOUISSSSS. It is not the best brand. I guess it depends on what you're buying it for. Is it truly for something important or is it just for some convenience. I would NEVER get it for a business application - go get APC for that. Is it for your desktop and home networking equipment just to handle the 5-second brownouts and hope that you can continue video gaming without re-logging in? It's a good deal for that. Is it for something mission-critical at home? I wouldn't get it for that.

I hope it helps! 🙂

I love the "phear the unknown" attitude here. Only good for 5 second brown outs? Did anyone even bother looking at the specs or read a review? Why even bother with a UPS then? Just get an AVR/line-conditioner.

The Ultra UPS's are fine. They've been on the market almost as long as their power supplies.

They are made by Powercom. Same OEM as many other UPS's on the market.

They are line interactive units with AVR. Very good price and good warranty. For the money, I'd say it's a good deal. You certainly can't get an APC for that little and when looking at other line interactive UPS's, you're not really getting anything better going with a brand like APC. For that money, you're lucky if you get anything with AVR, never mind a line-interactive unit.

Of course, if you want an on-line and/or true sine UPS then you'll have to look elsewhere.... like APC.

An opinion was asked and an opinion was given. Feel free to disagree, but please don't condiscend (even if it was spelled right! 😛 ).

My opinion is that I would not use those UPSes for systems that ran my business. I would use them for my home PC, though.

I don't mean to offend and you're certainly welcome to your opinion.

Perhaps you could suggest to the OP an APC model that would match the specifications of this Ultra unit for similar, or perhaps a little more, money?

The Op should have asked for "educated" opinions....
