If you had 1k to spend on Jan the 9th, what would you spec, including monitor + keyboard+mouse.

Gaming + Video Editing for the win. And happy to do some stable clocking( Needs a 1 year lifespan at least ).

Thanks in advance.

i5 2500k, 1155 mobo, Geforce GTX 570, 8GB GSkill Ripjaws (4GB x 2), 60GB SSD, 1TB Storage. easy, done 🙂

Of course im not looking for exact spec and down to the penny pricing.

Was only after a rough idea, and thats what i got.

Thanks for the kits so far.

Although i would be keen to get the 2600k

im sure I can stretch the budget a little more for a nice EVGA board and a 2600k

Have to have a look into this ripjaw ram, I see a lot of you using it.

Thanks again for the info.

Lets see if we get any variations.

Friends don't let friends buy EVGA motherboards. Stick with one of the big 3 (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI).

As for the 2600K, it really depends on the proportion of time spend gaming vs. video editing. If you are going to be doing video editing any less than 50% of the time, the i7 is a waste of money.

I can see your point, but were not really talking about much money with the new i7's if it was a 400 pound difference I would hold off. but for 50-100 quid... might as well.

The thing is, 100 more pounds will buy you a GTX 580 or bigger SSD. It's not a matter of being able to afford it; it's a matter of how the money would be best spent.
