Hi all

I have a $1000 to spend to build a new machine and would like the community's feedback on which way I should go.

What is the best AMD based system I could go with? What is the best Intel rig I could build?

I do want to keep some of my parts from my current rig, namely my Radeon 9600 Pro and 80G HD.

Currently I am running:
MSI 648 Max L mobo
P4 2.4B
Radeon 9600 Pro
512 PC2700
80G HD
onboard audio
56X cdrom
 
Buy an Athlon64 2800-3200, a gig of DDR3200 ram, and a HSF, use the extra money for goodies, like a better video card, better sound card, speakers, and / or a DVD drive or CDRW.
