$1000 Online Shopping Spree or Progressive Scan DVD Player?

I just got Dish Network service. Once active for 3-months of billing I get to choose a bonus gift; either a progressive scan DVD player or a $1000 online shopping spree.

1. The DVD player won't likely be a high-end unit.

2. The $1000 shopping spree will likely have a selection of highly over-priced crap (can't find a catalog to browse). Should still come out ahead; but... I'm thinkin' there's gotta be a HUGE catch to that spree somewhere.

DishPronto Free Gift

Have any of you Dish owners had the same offer through your provider?

Well you can get a good progressive scan player for ~$50. I believe that should answer your question.

Good point. Had thought about that. I've just had a few 'rewards' from online merchants that ended up not being worth the time to order from. But, for $1000 there MUST be something worth fanagling right!? Just a matter of how craptastic the online catalog is then.

Been googling it for a while; haven't found any detail on the catalog offerings or heard from anyone that's chosen the spree. I think it's a new enough offer that the detail just hasn't gotten around yet. But I think everyone's right so far. Even if the spree is over-priced product; should come out ahead over whatever DVD player they're offering. But, mabye that's what they want you to think... sucking you into the dark side...

That you should even have to ask means you should give me the shopping spree. You'll obviously squander it in the $5 DVD bin and get the animated deer head.

Somebody in OT or FS/T had a $1000 shopping spree from some ripoff website. He got a DVD player, but not much else due to $300+ shipping & handling, IIRC

Yeah, i read that thread as well. the stuff was marked up so high and the "processing fee" was so high, you ended up getting it for what you would pay for at a store anyway.

That's what I figure, but being that I'm not paying for it ( just noticed the part about having to pay the processing and shipping) it's still a 'freebee'. What concerns me is if there are rules as to how purchases have to be made and how fast the 'processing fee/shipping' chews up that $1000.00.

I mean, there's gotta be a HUGE catch to that $1k option as opposed to the cheap DVD player; because you can't view a catalog upfront and they'd lose money if it was really as good as it sounds.

You must be pulling my leg; there's no way I could get both the deer head AND the singing fish in one fell swoop! Yeah, I knew it was too good to be true. I guess it's DVD player FTW.

The DVD player, most "shopping sprees" are from terrible places that still make you pay for shipping which is more than you could buy the junk for at your local walmart. Do a search on ebay and you'll see several $1000 shopping sprees that you can buy for under $1.

After looking at the Dish link, it's not question, get the DVD.

You need only pay the small charge for Processing and Delivery (P&D) for each item for delivery right to your door.

This small processing and delivery fee will be more than the item is worth.
