1000 miles free (filling a survey) - United

Hmm... I don't know if this is considered a deal, but it is free with a little work so I would like to share:

United asking for people to fill in a survey by 10/17 and they will give you 1000 miles after you finish. The survey is NOT short so.... you make the call.

I Didn't go to site, so I didn't know what they were asking for...

but I am NOT giving them my Frequent Flier accoount number, just the same...

I've confirmed with United that they, like major companies, had a third-party handle the survey (I don't blame em, that was one monster survey). It's legitimate, but no one is pressuring you to do anything. I recommend if you do take up the challenge, that you fill it out honestly as it could have a direct impact on Star Alliance's future (I don't want to lose my Premier Executive status)

I wouldn't be so quick with the ban calling...

The Ciao GmbH (caio.com/de) does online marketing for companies under the caio-group.com website. They are owned by Greenfield which is a NASDAQ listed company. Staralliance used Headstrong GmbH for the website and has ties to Germany. I have no reason to believe they wouldn't use the Caio Group for marketing.

But these people do targeted marketing... if you weren't sent the email asking you to participate, you will most likely screw up their results, and probably not be awarded any miles as you were never offered them to begin with...

I don't think a site designed to "steal" frequent flyer numbers would make people fill out a lengthy 15 minute survey in the process.
