I need to pickup a new video card. You can pickup the listed cards for around $100 after rebates if you look around a bit. All of these card perform "about" the same from all the bench marks I have read.

The card will be used for light gaming, mostly Source games like TF2 and CSS.

Before you say 9800 GTX+ or HD 4850 keep in mind I want to stay around $100. Any opinions on what to get?

I take it the 8800 GT is the 256 mb version, if that's the case, the 9600 is the way to go. Not sure how the 3870 compares there.

I believe I read that the 9600GT is slightly faster when AA is enabled while the 3870 is slightly faster when AA is disabled. They are pretty much on par depending on whether you use AA or not...

I would go with the 3870. I just had to make pretty much the same choice when I was building a new comp recently. And I am VERY happy with my 3870.

Do you have a link? Are you looking at the US page or the Canada page?

With the dual slot cooler this is the card to go for without a question.

I would go with the 3870 recent drivers such as cat8.6 and cat8.7 seem to have lot of performance improvements for hd 3870, funny how ati is still trying to squeeze performance with their last gen, you have to give it to them for looking out.

Except this deal doesn't seem to exist.

The 3870 performs better than the 9600GT in the majority of games and at $100 it is a good buy. If you can find an 8800GT for $100 then get that.

That's the lower performing GDDR3 version. Most 3870s have GDDR4 memory. Still not a horrible price considering you get a stock Zalman HSF though.

the $109 8800Gt isnt bad.

i would take a 9600GT 512mb over a 8800GT any day also. sometimes there are deals for a 8800GTS 640mb for $100 ish also which is an option.

Luckily i got in on that amazon 1 hour deal 2 days ago. 9600GT 512mb for $65!
